notes: wow, first song on the album and what a banger, if i do say so myself! it's weird to say, but when i wrote this i was very intentionally writing an opening track, since i knew the album needed one and i didn't have one written yet, and i really like manifest by the weakerthans and wanted to do something a little like that (though without the reprises later on). this is not-so-secretly one of my favorites on the record.
